The Darling

I walked along the salted roads, alone and disoriented in a darkness that has belonged to me since the birth of my constellation. There was a moment, seasons ago, when I had trod lightly across the Darling. Underneath the streetlights of my wildest dreams, I had felt the world slowly heal wounds as old as my grudge against the face in the mirror.

Flash forward to the night when I turned nineteen again, and I woke up the next morning drowning in a reservoir of my own regrets.

Yet the world folded over once more, and I surfaced from beneath those waves.
