Long Ago

Southern winds blow, thinning out my cloudy skies. The first storm had passed, yet those bright lights remain untouchable. I close my eyes, dreaming of nights from long ago and your ocean blues. These half-dozen years have paralyzed me, left me staring at the bottom of the bottle.

The morning light casts me to sleep as I pray for the last decade to rewind, so that maybe I can revisit a time and place when there was a heartbeat beneath this wreckage.
