I was standing in an aisle of the grocery store on a Sunday afternoon back in January. Everywhere I turned, I saw something that reminded me of you. I toyed with my phone in one hand, wanting to text you. But you were gone. And I couldn’t control myself because tears began pouring out. It was a moment of weakness that I had never endured before. There I was, life in a different city but all I could think about were the days I knew you in high school, when times were simpler. There were no words or graceful action I could commit to for you to walk back to me. And that was so frustrating, because I love you.
Week passed, and by some miracle, you turned around. My heart stopped for a moment. And then I began to feel happiness again.
